Stand Pat Poker

Rules of Play

Stand Pat poker is an exciting version of draw poker where you play against a pay-table and have the chance to win 5000 to 1 on your Stand Pat bet if you receive a Royal Flush in the first five cards. It is played with a standard 52-card deck.

  • Players must make a Stand Pat wager at or above the table minimum to participate in the round.
  • After all bets are set, the dealer will begin the round of play by dealing each player 5 cards, face down from left to right.
  • The dealer will deal 4 community draw cards face down by spreading the cards from his right to left face down in the boxes numbered 1 through 4 on the layout in front of the rack.
  • The leftmost card, which would have been the top card before the dealer spread them, will go into the number 1 box. The other cards will follow in order.
  • The players will now look at their cards.
  • If the player has been dealt a straight or better in their first five cards, they may opt to Stand Pat by tucking their cards under their initial Stand Pat wager. No Draw Bet wager can be placed, and they will be paid based on the Stand Pat pay-table:

  1. All players have the option to draw up to 4 cards, however players who were not dealt a straight or better in their first five cards must decide whether to draw or fold and may not Stand Pat.
  2. A player who Stands Pat on his first five cards and was not dealt at least a straight or better will lose their Stand Pat wager.
  3. If a player folds, he will lose his Stand Pat wager.
  4. If a player opts to draw cards, the player must place a draw bet wager equal to the Stand Pat wager on the designated spot with a number congruent to the number of community cards drawn.
  5. The player will then hand in his discards face down to the dealer beginning from the the dealer’s left to right.
  6. For example, if the player wishes to draw three cards he will place a wager equal to his initial Stand Pat wager in the box numbered 3 and hand in his three discards face down to the dealer. The player will now tuck his remaining two cards underneath his Draw bet.
  • The dealer will verify that all players have chosen to Stand Pat, fold or draw.
  • The dealer will verify that all players who have chosen to Draw have placed their wager in the appropriate numbered box (1 through 4) corresponding to the number of community cards they wish to draw and the number of cards remaining in their hand.
  • Once the dealer has verified that all players have chosen to Stand Pat, draw or fold, he will begin reconciling the player’s wagers from left to right, one at a time.
  • The dealer will expose the four community draw cards along with the remaining cards in each player’s hand one at a time from left to right.
  • For example, if the player chose to draw 3 cards, the dealer will expose the players remaining two cards, verify again that the player has placed a Draw wager on the number 3 box in the player’s betting area, and push up slightly the cards in the community draw boxes numbered one through three to indicate they are to be combined with the players remaining two cards.
  • Players who choose to draw will be paid based on the Draw pay table (Not the Stand Pat pay table):

  • If a player has chosen to draw, the initial Stand Pat wager will pay even money 1:1 if the player has drawn into a straight or better, otherwise it will lose.
  • Once all bets have reconciled, the dealer will collect the cards and the round of play will begin again.
